Bauan, Batangas - February 28, 2012. The Local Government of Bauan through the leadership of Hon. Ryanh M. Dolor, Municipal Mayor, led the honoring of our fallen brethren during the World War II that caused the death of hundreds of Bauanguenos on February 28, 1945. Rev. Father Eleuterio C. Ramos was the Guest of Honor during the said celebration who delivered his memorial speech on the later part of the program. The annual program dubbed as "Balik Kasaysayan" was originally celebrate every 1st of November. However, after careful researches, it was moved on February 28, the true date when the infamous massacre was committed by Japanese soldiers that time.
After the formalities, guests for the event, local government officials, veterans and members of the Knights of Columbus offered prayers, flowers and candles in honor of the unssung heroes of Bauan. Grand Knight Ben Enriquez led the opening prayers while Ms. Matdarenda G. Marasigan, District Superintendent welcomed all the guests and participants to the event.
Hon. Juan M. Magboo, Vice Mayor and SB Presiding Officer, Mr. Raneo Abu, representative of Congressman Hermilando I. Mandanas, Mr. Bong Moraleja, Public Rerations Officer of Vice-Governor Leviste, Vice-Governor Mark Leviste and Hon. Ryanh M. Dolor all gave their messages for the people of Bauan for the celebration of the special event.
Hon. Julian C. Casapao, Municipal Councilor, introduced the guest speaker: Rev. Father Eleuterio C. Ramos, Parish Priest of Invencion dela Sta. Cruz, Alitagtag, Batangas. Hon. Hero M. Dolor, Municipal Councilor led the awarding of plaque of appreciation to Rev. Father Ramos and was assisted by the members of the Sangguniang Bayan of Bauan.
Mr. Antonio V. de Lacy, Jr., Municipal Administrator, gave the cloasing remarks and followed by the traditional flying of white ballons and doves, signifying the love,honor and appreciation of the people for the heroism and sacrifice of our fellow Bauanguenos for the freedom we all enjoy today.
